The Annual Research and Policy Breakfast is the flagship event of ACS CAN and an opportunity to bring our community together experts in policy, research, and patient care. 2025 presents a pivotal moment as we work together on critical campaigns like safeguarding access to Medicaid, ending the sale of menthol cigarettes & flavored tobacco products, access to biomarker testing, and protecting and increasing research funding from Congress for the National Cancer Institute and National Institute of Health.

Join us for a full breakfast with special speakers along with a panel of cancer experts here in Washington State. The research and policy breakfast event brings together leaders in the community to dive into the ground breaking research taking place here in Washington State and learn more about specific policy issues cancer patients in Washington face to arm ourselves with the knowledge needed to focus our shared efforts to orient and advance the cancer advocacy world to key priorities with Congress and in the upcoming 2026 WA State legislative session.

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) advocates for evidence-based public policies to reduce the cancer burden for everyone. We engage our volunteers across the country to make their voices heard by policymakers at every level of government. We believe everyone should have a fair and just opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

Our Mission

Advocating to Help Save Lives from Cancer

Since 2001, as the American Cancer Society’s nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy affiliate, ACS CAN has successfully advocated for billions of dollars in cancer research funding, expanded access to quality affordable health care, and advanced proven tobacco control measures.

We stand with our volunteers—people whose lives have been impacted by cancer—rallying to demand change. Together, we’re working to make cancer a top priority for public officials and candidates at the federal, state, and local levels. By engaging advocates across the country to make their voices heard, ACS CAN influences legislative and regulatory solutions that will end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
